PENGEMBANGAN BAHAN AJAR IPS BERBASIS BUDAYA DAN KEARIFAN LOKAL MASYARAKAT PANDALUNGAN DI KABUPATEN JEMBER UNTUK SISWA SMP/ MTS

Abstract


The current IPS learning tends to be not contextual, the potential of the local environment, especially the local culture, is not optimally utilized by the teacher in the learning process. The value of this local culture is to make it easier for them to understand the various IPS concepts and phenomena in their environment and to increase students' appreciation of their local culture. These problems can be overcome by developing a teaching material that can support students to learn independently, close to the student environment and in accordance with the needs of students. The purpose of this study is to develop social studies teaching materials based on culture and local wisdom Pandalungan Community in Jember District and know the feasibility. This research uses a modified research and development model of Borg & Gall (2003) model consisting of seven stages: (1) research and information gathering, (2) planning, (3) product development, (4) initial field trials , (5) revision of test results, (6) major field trial, and (7) final product. The result of validation of product draft shows that the compiled material has the feasibility of the material experts by 80%, the design expert is 73.33%, the linguist is 83%, the social studies teacher is 92.17%, which means the language of the valid material or feasible to use. The results of the initial trial obtained an average percentage of 85.66%. The results of the skill test in the main field trial obtained a percentage of 85.16%, while the results of the test of the effectiveness of the teaching materials showed that the average of student learning outcomes was able to exceed the minimum limit of every aspect of competence in social studies learning. Thus, the teaching material is valid and feasible to be used to support the social studies lesson of SMP / MTs. Class VIII.
