Abstract


Abstract: Leadership of an institution or organization always wants to work to motivate any staff or subordinates, with high expectations of work motivation will foster good performance and will produce superior achievement and quality. In the motivation to staff or subordinates, leaders of institutions or organizations have different ways. Among a Principal should be a role model, both for teachers and staff and students. With the example will result in strong leadership so that in turn the national education goals can be achieved so that the next generation will be the generation of smart, skilled and self-sufficient.

Based on the background described above, the problem under study is formulated as follows: a) How much influence philosophy of Ki Hajar Dewantara “ ing ngarsa sung tuladha” for principals to the improvement of teacher performance?, B) How much influence philosophy Ki Hajar Dewantara “tut wuri handayani” for principals to the improvement of teacher performance? C) How much influence simultaneously philosophy Ki Hajar Dewantara Ing ngarsa sung tuladha and tut wuri handayani for principals to the improvement of teacher performance?.

 Kind of research is a quantitative study with a survey method. As for the population and at the same sample in this study were all teachers SMPN 01 Wuluhan Jember totaling 50 people. Techniques of data collection by questionnaire division/questionnaire with Likert scale. Analysis of the data using the formula simple correlation and double correlation techniques computer-assisted with SPSS 13.

The results also show; (1) a significant difference between the philosophy of Ki Hajar Dewantara “Ing Ngarsa sung Tuladha” to the Head of School with teacher performance. Correlation coefficient of 0.863 indicates the level of closeness between the two variables is very strong, (2) effect Philosophy Ki Hajar Dewantara “Tut Wuri Handayani” Principal for the performance of teachers, the result is a correlation coefficient of 0.893. Correlation coefficient of 0.893 indicates the level of closeness between the two variables is very strong (3) effect between philosophy Ki Hajar Dewantara “Ing Ngarsa Sung Tuladha” for Principal, Philosophy Ki Hajar Dewantara “Tut Wuri Handayani” Principal for the performance of teachers simultaneously has a correlation coefficient (R) 0.934, addressing the level of closeness between these three variables is very strong, while the magnitude of the effects of both the philosophy of the teacher's performance is equal to 87.23%.
