Pengaruh Strategi Pembelajaran Kooperatif Tipe Jigsaw vs Pembelajaran Langsung dan Kemampuan Penalaran terhadap Prestasi Belajar Sosiologi dan Keterampilan Sosial Siswa di SMA

Abstract


The lowness of  senior high school  students’s social skill is caused in learning process of sociology  subject emphasize too much  in cognitive ability only, mainly towards the lowest cognitive dimension level. Sociology learning process emphasizes in memorizing concept and ignoring other cognitive  aspects. Besides, teachers are used to carrying out lerning process by using direct instruction strategy which tends to teacher centered.  As a result, the students do not have chances to share their ability and skill each other lind the learning process. The purposes of the research are as follow to examin the effectivenes of learning achievement  and social skill students’s by using jigsaw type cooperative learning strategy. This research involved quasi-experiment with factorial 2 x 2 design consisting of pretest-treatment-posttest procedure. The subject of the research  consisted of  45 students, class XI IPS 1 treated or taught by using jigsaw type cooperative learning strategy, and 44 students, class XI IPS 2 treated or taught by using direct instruction strategy. The instrument which is used to measure learning achievement was an essay test that consists of 10 items, wheres the students’s social skill was measured by questionnaire consists of 25 questions. Then the data which are collected were analyzed by using Manova technic with the the computer aid of program SPSS 13.0 for windows.The results of the datum analysis show that: wholly, there is a significant difference between the group of students who were taught by using jigsaw type cooperative learning strategy and the group of students who were taught by using direct instruction strategy on learning achievement and social skill. There is a not a significant interaction between two different learning strategies  and different reasoning ability grade on sociology learning achievement and social skill. Suggestion for the utilization of research result: jigsaw type cooperative learning strategy very suitable for increasing students’s learning achievement and social skill during learning process.
